Garbage and Recycling
Garbage and Recycling pick-up is every Friday except for major holidays. Residents will be sent a reach alert if signed up to notify residents of any changes to their Republic service. If residents have a large item they need picked up, they need to contact Republic at 219-987-6057. The item will be picked up by a separate truck.
Electronic items are no longer picked up. Items such as computers, monitors, computer peripherals, televisions, printers, fax machines, video cassette recorders, typewriters, copiers, microwaves, scanners, gaming machines etc. need to be recycled. These items can be recycled at the Boone Grove recycling center at 546 S. 400 W Mon-Sat 8 am-4 pm.
Residents can take recyclable items to the Porter County recycling sites in Valparaiso at 2150 W Lincolnway (Hwy 130) and Boone Grove at 546 S. 400 W.
There are 4 large recycling dumpsters for town residents located at 406 Kouts St. Please only recycle Newspaper, Envelopes, Junk mail, Phone books, Brochures, Magazines, Poster board, Frozen food boxes, Cardboard boxes, Milk cartons, Water bottles, Soda bottles. Leaf and Brush Pickup
Leaf and Brush Pick-up dates are announced on the website, utility bills and town sign.
Please keep leaves and brush in separate piles!
No branches larger than 4 inches in diameter or longer than 4 feet in length.
Brush does not have to be bundled, but please keep them in easy to pick up piles.
No fresh cut trees please!
Leaf / Brush piles should be placed as shown in the image to the right.
For snow removal, the Street Dept asks that vehicles be removed from the roadway when snowfall is over 1″ in order to properly clear the streets.
