School Information

Kouts schools are part of the award-winning East Porter County School Corporation with facilities at the Kouts campus to accommodate 1,000 students in grades K - 12. Both Kouts Elementary and Kouts Middle/Senior High are fully accredited by the Indiana Department of Education. The schools have Continuous School Improvement plans developed by the schools with community input and approved by the state, once again demonstrating the schools' continued commitment to educational excellence.

Activities for students and their parents

A parent group is active in organizing activities for elementary students and furnishing financial support for a wide variety of projects and programs.

A varied activities program is maintained for secondary students to gain additional experiences outside the classroom. Kouts athletes have been very successful in competing as members of the eight-school Porter County Conference. The 1500 seat gymnasium, coupled with a new all-weather track, along with quality baseball and softball fields provide Kouts athletes with outstanding facilities.

Success in academic competitions

Association-sponsored academic competitions have gained popularity in recent years. Kouts High School teams have advanced to the Hoosier Spell Bowl State competition 17 years in a row claiming four State championships while the Junior High has advanced seven times and have won two State championships. In addition, eight Academic Super Bowl teams have advanced to the State competition and two have returned as State champions.

Although Kouts Schools have experienced significant success in extra-curricular activities, the schools' major focus is still on academics and preparing each student to become a mature, capable, self-sufficient citizen able to deal with the problems and responsibilities of life.
